Water Hygiene

As specialists in the field of water hygiene, we provide monitoring, cleaning and disinfection of domestic water systems.. All systems and practices are designed to meet specific site requirements for industrial, commercial, leisure and healthcare premises. All working methods and control systems comply with the latest Codes of Practice and relevant specifications.

There are numerous types of bacteria which can be present in water, including the potentially fatal legionella. Neglected tanks are extremely high risk areas for the spread of disease as the legionella bacteria can proliferate where conditions in water systems are allowed to deteriorate.

The systems and services to be considered are:

  • Chlorination/disinfection of Cold Water Storage Tanks to BS8558 & HSE ACOP L8

  • Water Tank Refurbishments

  • L8 Compliance / Legionella Risk Assessments

  • Water Sampling and Testing

  • Cooling towers

  • Evaporative condensers

  • Calorifier Descale

  • Pipework Disinfection

  • Pipe work Modification and Remedial Works

We understand that no two sites are the same, and therefore we tailor to meet  individual requirements of our clients.

With regard to water hygiene contracts our service engineers undertake all tasks from monthly temperature regimes, tank disinfections to analytical tests. The aim of the proposed programme is to prevent undue mechanical plant deterioration, optimise heat transfer, and provide control over bacterial growth, all in accordance with the Health & Safety Executive document ACOP L8 2001-The Control of Legionella Bacteria in Water Systems.

To ensure accurate record keeping, Active can provide a comprehensive logbook for EACH BUILDING on a site. Simple to audit and analyse our logbook details management structure, plans and schematic drawings of plant, a visitors log, method statements of annual tasks to be undertaken and water sample analysis results.
